Diversity
Young to old
We are a community. This includes young career starters like apprentices
or students, as well as employees with long professional experience and the appropriate know-how. For our fixed employees, we have an age range of 20-63 years. Jung learns from old and old learns from Jung!
origin
We are proud of our high number of different nationalities. Our 186 employees come from 24 countries and maintain a family atmosphere based on the company philosophy. Only together can we create such a high quality end product.
equality
We are present and modern. With us no difference between man and woman is made. Various gender equality strategies such as equal pay or the family-friendly shift system come into force here.
At Ball Widnau, we currently have 25% of women in senior management and across all departments, 15% are women, 10% of them in production.
We specifically promote our women. Currently we have introduced an additional team leader level and of the 5 are 3 women.
European Women's Network
Ball was one of the first international companies to launch the first European Women Talent Focus in May 2019. 90 female leaders from all over Europe gathered in Madrid for 2 1/2 days.
"The greatest experience is how committed and passionate our male and female executives are for promoting gender diversity at Ball," said Manette Snow, vice president, human resources, Beverage Packaging Europe. "We start with a focus on gender diversity, especially because gender is a global issue and there's so much data on how and why it's critical to business and ball."

D&I Attracting More Women To Our Industry The Widnau plant has a summer program with special focus being placed on gender equality this year. Students are invited to work at the plant for a three to eight weeks period. The internship is available across a range of departments, from the manufacturing, quality to administration. This year, out of twenty five students, thirteen are women. And what they say about Ball:
“What I like most about working at Ball it’s a "family-kind of thinking”. It does not matter whether employees are part of the cleaning team, tool-making, management or production – we are all together responsible for the high quality end product,” says Bettina, who works in administration.
“The tasks are very interesting and I'm glad that I can get hands-on experience. The colleagues in my shift are all very friendly and helpful. Right from the beginning I got great training and was integrated into the team. There is no difference between women and men. Everyone is accommodating and friendly,” says Rebecca, who operates at palletizing machine.
“I am encouraged to take responsibility for my area and do my best on the machines. What I like most is the team spirit. I can always ask if there is anything unclear to me,” says Paula, an ISA Machine operator.
